Graciela Iturbide’s Yucatán photographs distil ritual, landscape, and daily life into stark, symbolic images. Moving between documentary and myth, they render indigenous presence with dignity and ambiguity. Birds, veils, and bodies become emblems of transformation, where the ordinary acquires a charged, poetic stillness.

This exhibition features Iturbide’s prints made during her residency in 1987 with Newcastle’s Amber Collective.
